Michelle is an environmental scientist undertaking projects in mining and oil and gas operations in Western Australia. She became interested in working in land restoration after moving to Perth from Canada in 2019.
Currently, Michelle collaborates with rehabilitation and mine closure teams. Her work involves rehabilitation monitoring, flora surveys, compliance reporting, and mine closure planning. She’s involved in coordinating projects from inception through to deliverables.
One of Michelle’s most exciting projects to date was coordinating rehabilitation monitoring and decommissioning trials on Barrow Island, an island off the Pilbara Coast of Western Australia. This involved planning for the decommissioning of approximately 800 well pads and restoration of key vegetation on the disturbed land.
When Michelle has any free time, her passion is everything that happens in or on water including surfing, sailing, and paddling.
