Sacred Heart Cathedral ¨C Specialist Lighting
Sacred Heart Cathedral, one of Bendigo¡¯s most recognisable landmarks, was ready for a lighting upgrade. The church enlisted our lighting specialists to design and deliver solutions within this heritage-listed space, with the aim of accentuating the Cathedral¡¯s intricate architectural details.
Our lighting design team was involved from the initial concept to the final commissioning stages. The project involved replacing outdated fittings with contemporary, dimmable alternatives that offer improved energy efficiency and greater flexibility. Adopting a theatrical lighting approach, we focused on illuminating key elements across the sanctuary, nave, chapel, transepts, narthex, and choir¡ªbringing new depth and dimension to the Cathedral¡¯s interior.
Given the heritage constraints of the cathedral, new cable reticulation was not feasible. Even so, to meet the client¡¯s desire for versatile lighting scenes, we implemented Casambi wireless technology, which enabled advanced control without requiring invasive infrastructure works.
The result is a tailored lighting experience for Bendigo¡¯s Sacred Heart congregation that combines functional illumination with a reverent, dramatic atmosphere¡ªhighlighting the sacredness of the space in every detail.?
