Photo of Fernando

From an early age, Fernando enjoyed building canals, ponds, roads, bridges, and houses, creating earthmoving equipment with used matchboxes, such as trucks, compactors, and tractors. Now a civil engineer, he has over three decades of experience with the design and construction of social and mining infrastructure. For the past 20 years, he’s dedicated himself to socio-environmental management, water management, process improvement, mine closure, and legal compliance efforts.

Fernando currently leads the technical aspect of water management and mine closure projects. He also serves as a senior reviewer on mining-related projects, exploring new opportunities with clients in Latin America and evaluating improvements in internal processes.

Outside of work, Fernando likes to spend time with his family, play soccer, and ride a bike. He also volunteers with students from schools and universities in Cajamarca and serves as a director on the Peruvian Technical Committee for Tailings and Mining Waste Management.
