Venice Law Enforcement and Fire Rescue Impact Fee Study

After years of growth, the City of Venice, Florida, needed more support for their law enforcement and fire rescue departments. To plan for this, the City engaged our team to study implementing impact fees for expanding these services.

We worked with the police and fire departments to gain insight into their current services and future needs. For the police, the City will need more officers, vehicles, equipment, and building space. The fire department will need to build two more stations over the next decade, which brings costs for construction, vehicles, and equipment. Based on our findings, we proposed an equitable and clear fee structure to cover capital expansion costs over the next decade.

By utilizing impact fees to scale up police and fire operations, the City can maintain reliable emergency services delivery while accommodating population growth.
